Let's all go to our happy place

Today on the Big Nanny blog, I'm going to talk about something uncomfortable.

In fact, it's so uncomfortable that I'm going to politely ask the men blog lurkers who read this blog to move on along now. No Hotdog reviews today.

It's the kind of thing that is not really blogged about very much so my three original blogging buddies are going to look at each other and say, "I can't believe she blogged about that and why did we let her start a blog?"

You see the Lil'Nanny went to puberty class last Friday at her school. You know the little class where they separate the boys from the girls and they explain what's happening to your body. There's talk about body parts, body odor and the ever important lady products. Yes, I like to call them lady products. I don't like to call them feminine napkins like the school secretary used to call them because napkins belong on a table.

Anyhoo, she came home on Friday afternoon, and I started asking questions about the talk. I also asked her if they gave her any lady product samples. She started digging through her backpack and pulled out a pastel colored plastic pouch. I'm sure it was just like getting a goody bag from a birthday party. So here it is...

I would like to introduce you to the "Happy Kit"

Whenever you're walking through Target and throw a box into the cart...remember, it's like you're picking up a pack of happiness.

Let me be the first to say.....

I can't believe you blogged about that and why did we let you start a blog?

Now that we have that out of the way, I will admit this made me laugh. Out loud. Happy Kit? Seriously?

I think this is just another example of our society lulling our children into a false sense of right and wrong. Because there ain't nothin' happy about it.

Maybe I'm not thinking clearly, or just don't have a good memory, but I don't recall being happy any of the numerous times I've picked up a box of those. Happy kit? Please! Now, a box of chocolates... that makes me happy.

I knew it would be a matter of time that the Big Nanny blog would take on such "delicate" subject matters. Obviously the school has not been a guest in my home when my "happy" time occurs because I would have to describe it as more like "the beast from another planet that is on a war path to destroy everything and everyone that is in its path" time. I'm just sayin'

Happy kit? Really?

I like the usage of the phrase "lady products." I'll keep that little gem tucked into my memory for when I have that talk about such things with my little ones. But you can be sure the word "happy" won't be a part of that conversation.

I guess that title is better than what my little book was called. In 5th grade we got "Growing Up and Liking It." The girl from Annie talked about "lady products" on a video and embarrassed all of us. The boys got to have ice cream cones. What a jip.

WOW! Happy Kit, HUH? I have had a few months of a break so I cannot complain, but I assure you happiness is not what comes to mind on those days!
