Captain D's PLEASE!

I'm not a big seafood lover but occasionally I get a hankering for a 2 piece fish dinner. I prefer to get my seafood from high quality places like Captain D's or Long John Silvers. I know some of you seafood aficionados do not consider that "real" seafood, but it's as deep in the ocean as I'm going for my fried fish and cracklins. But I don't think you can call yourself a "real" seafood lover unless you are willing to eat your seafood like this...

This is Africa fish. If you are a "real" seafood lover, you must be willing to let your fish look at you. Again, just to keep things straight here...I'm not a real seafood lover because any fish product that I consume must be battered at least 5 times, deep fried in grease and of course, call me picky, but I absolutely insist that the head be removed.

Sumer is a "real" seafood lover.

The picture does not do justice to the fact that it was so stinkin dark in there, I had to use the flashlight to make sure I was not eating the eye balls.

It really was yummy, and those curry veggies look good! I would definitely have preferred Captain D's though! :)

That looks just as disgustng to me as the first time I saw that picture. I did wonder if that was a flashlight. =) Note to self: Take a flashlight to dinner. ;) 2nd note: Do NOT order fish! Seriously, way to go Sumer. I told her she seemed to immerse herself in the culture more than some others. Wow!

I guess Africa fish doesn't come with cracklins?

Do we know the African word for that dish? I just want to make sure I don't accidentally order it!

Agreed. I don't like my food to look back at me!

Seriously, would it be offensive if I only eat peanut butter and crackers for 10 days? I'm not picky, but I'm also not adventurous when it comes to eating.

Love that the "fun" posts are coming. Sumer definitely has the stomach of iron. I think I just gagged when she mentioned the word curry...LOL. Thank the Lord for some Jiff peanut butter is all I have to say!

sorry. i probably should keep my mouth shut but when i looked at that picture, my first thought was how much i miss eating fish like that.
you see, since marrying a "white" boy, i hardly ever get to eat fish like that.
note: this asian grew up eating fish like that because that's what we had to eat. i never had battered anything until i married a southerner.

I'm so glad Sumer clarified the flashlight. I couldn't figure out if she had a sippy cup or what that was.
Jessica, I plan to bring lots of Jif to go pnut butter. I'm a foodie and like to try new stuff but...I also don't want to be visiting the squatty pottys every two seconds. ick

They eat fish like this in China too! Just thought you needed to know Big Nanny in case you ever go to China on a mission trip!

I have to say the photo of Sumer is hilarious!

I too wondered what device Sumer had in her hands. This is funny. I really cannot imagine this being served to me... or what I might say or do.

Brent (who will try anything) ate fish eyeballs and fins on his first or second trip to Nicaragua. Said he had to be a part of it. He also said the eyeballs were better than the fins. And to think... he married a girl who won't even eat cooked cow or pig!
