So, I spent some time in the kitchen this past weekend doing some baking. Cupcakes. I heart cupcakes. Chocolate cupcakes with chocolate cream cheese icing. Like most of my cooking adventures things don't always go as planned and I usually call Lawnmower Man into the kitchen with this statement:
Where do you think I went wrong?
I wasn't terribly wrong this time and I followed the directions to a tee, but I just thought the cupcakes should have risen a little higher and not have that sunk in the middle look. His first diagnosis was, "Did you use baking powder?" "Yes, yes I did." "Maybe it was out of date?" "Nope, the date is still good."
We're still not sure what happened but he said he's going to start his own blog called...mywifecan'tcook.blogspot.com...too bad for him. I looked and it's already taken:)
I came across this quiz on the AOL news page and took it. I scored 8 out of 14. I don't think my score is so bad considering I can't cook and someone wants to write a blog about it. I'll be eager to hear what some of your scores are in the comments.

Haven't taken the quiz... but I THINK that cakes can fall if you open and shut the oven too much before they are done???
You've got problems, Angela...I got 9 right and can only cook sloppy joes and peanut butter cookies (in the package.) Maybe you should get some pizza coupons for future use. :)

I got 10 out of 14...which most I got right were guesses! My problem is nto the ability but the fact that I never have time!
No surprise, I also only answered 8 correctly and more than a few were guesses! :)
With cake products, it helps to pound the bubbles out of the middle, and def leave the oven shut. If everything was done corectly, the weather can also cause problems for all sorts of recipes, but not sure if cupcakes are one of those. I did "fail" the test by my standards, but I happen to be an expert on sweets... well, at least an expert eater :)
